California…there we were

329
The week before Thanksgiving we took a wild trip to California for the first time as a family.  We weren’t in the car for more than an hour and the kids were already asleep.  The excitement of the preparation for the big trip didn’t bode well for getting either of them to nap before it was time to leave.
331 This is our first glimpse of the ocean the next day.  We stopped just short of Santa Barbara for the night and as we got to the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), the sun was starting to rise behind us.  It was awesome!
335 See the sunlight behind my son and my dirty car windows, yuck!
338 My goofy girl!  This was followed by, “I wanna see mommy.”
341 We found this park to play at around Morrow Bay.  It was fun to get out and let the kids run around for a while.

Looking through the “cannon".”
350 “I am the captain,” she said, as she saluted Mommy.352 354 His favorite thing to play on was this little dolphin that is on a spring so you can rock back and forth.  It was just his size and he could get on and off it by himself.

My son is trying to eat the sea lion.
367 This is Hearst Castle, named for William Randolph Hearst.  If we had more time, maybe we would have taken the tour but we were trying to get to San Francisco area before it got dark.
373 Daddy and son.
Another great stop, we found this beach that you could access from the PCH.  We didn’t find any seashells, but it was fun running around and taking pictures.
376 378 The coastline just disappears.
382 383 Playing chicken with the waves.386 Mommy and son.
391 The sun setting over the ocean at Half Moon Bay.
396 Getting ready for breakfast with Great Great Grandpa, Great Uncle and Great Grandma to my kids.397 Breakfast and my daughter wasn’t paying attention, something else is always more interesting.
399 Then we went to Travis AFB to have some fun with Uncle AJ.400 Daddy and daughter posing with “Elvira.”
402Sister and Brother. He is now deployed over seas.
403My son playing with the propeller.
406Going to see the inside of the museum.
410Playing in the cockpit.412More fun in the pilot seat.418Great Aunt. The kids were bouncing off the walls and we couldn’t stay very long but it was great to see her.
In between Travis AFB and my Great Aunt up above we went to visit with my dad’s mom and some of my cousins at her sons birthday party and it was wonderful to visit with all of them.  The sad thing is that we were all having such a great time talking and watching our kids playing together that I didn’t get any pictures taken. I love you guys and hope to see you soon ;)
Fun in San Francisco. We went to the Aquarium that goes under the bay.  We drove across the Golden Gate Bridge.  We saw the sea lions and my daughter wanted to touch a stingray but then didn’t want to stick her hand in the water when they swam by.  She also walked the full length of Fisherman’s Wharf and we had lunch at Ghiradelhi Square. Two very tired kids zonked out in the backseat on the way to our next stop.
Dinner with cousins.  My kids had lots of fun playing and it was great seeing them and catching up.  Thanks again!

Overall, it was a great trip. The kids are wonderful little travelers, the portable DVD really helped ;) and we got to see lots of family.  We are so thankful we were able to see everyone that we did and that we got to spend some time with my brother before he left for overseas.
