Happy Birthday America!

For the 4th of July weekend we went to San Diego to visit with some family.  We took the kids to the beach, which they LOVED!  Even Bruiser got in on the sand action.  We brought home a few sea shells, made some pretty sad sand castles but the kids wanted to be in the water more than anything, so I am not sad. Mostly because I had Bruiser in one arm, my attempt at showing the older two how to build one, was one handed and just ended up a pile of sand with a moat.  We all got a little sunburned that day.  There was a barbecue at my cousin’s and it was fun.  The next day we took the kids to Sea World.  It was a great day!  We had the single stroller, so Buddy had to walk a lot and was a trooper.  By the end of the day though, he was ready to just lay down somewhere and crash.  In heading to see the Shamu show we were telling the kids about it and Princess said, “Sham who?”  That was priceless.  We laughed pretty heartily at that one.  The loved the whole place.  We didn’t ride any rides, the kids weren’t big enough yet but that’s okay.  We wanted them to be more enthralled with the animals than the rides.

We stopped for lunch afterwards because we got to Sea World when it opened and left by 2pm.  Buddy fell asleep on the way there, a whole 10 minutes maybe and slept in the booth at the restaurant until just before the lunch we ordered him showed up.  It was funny, poor guy was exhausted.  We all crashed for a while after we got back.

On the 4th we went swimming at my cousin’s, had a quieter day than the others.  Repacked the stuff we brought and the car.  Had steaks for dinner and watched the fireworks.  The kids, being tired and overstimulated went to bed before the fireworks but that was okay with me.  We still had a 6 hour drive the next day.

The drive home was nice and seemed quick even though it wasn’t.  The kids were a little more hyper on the way home because of all the fun and being ready to be home.  Mommy was ready to be home too!  It was a great trip!  My kids love the ocean, thank goodness.  I love the ocean and was hoping they would too.  Princess kept wanting to go out as far as she could, with Daddy’s help of course.  They went far enough to make Mommy nervous and call them back.  I know, silly Mommy can’t handle a little adventure.  We have one birthday and then our next trip before school starts.  Summer has gone by too quickly, but Princess is ready.  Ready for her big 5 birthday and for school to start.More adventures to come.  Life is exciting!
