The end of the year is very busy for us. Not only is there Christmas and New Years but we get to celebrate Daddy’s birthday in between as well. It also seemed that this year for the 2 weeks of Christmas and New Years it was a revolving door of visitors. Cousins came to see Grandma and since we live with her, they came to see our kids too. All I remember is trying to put very excited children to bed was interesting to say the least after a visit from cousins, Grammy or Grandpa and Aunts and Uncles. I do have to say it’s pretty funny when my sisters say that my kids have made off pretty well this year and that was only on Christmas Eve! Meaning the presents they had received that far was quite a bit more than expected. Baby made out pretty well too, with new outfits and toys. Trying to keep Older Brother from claiming all of Baby’s toys was quite a challenge, he wanted to play with everything. But he’s 2, whatcha gonna do? Big Sister got some fun new doll stuff and Brother got some fun Toy Story stuff. The biggest hit was the Basketball Hoop and kids size basketballs the older kids received. They love to play with Daddy as soon as he gets home from work.
Daddy had a big birthday this year and the kids were super excited to “surprise” him. As soon as we heard the car pull up I told them to hide. They did a good job and waited until he came in the room, jumped from their hiding spot and yelled, “Surprise!” It was very cute.
New Year’s was kind of quiet. Daddy had the day off and we took the kids out shopping during the day to see if some of the deals out there were worth it and we did find some good stuff. We kept the kids out long enough that bedtime was a little easier and special. We let the kids watch a movie in their rooms while they laid in bed because Mommy and Daddy were going to be up until midnight. They enjoyed that and crashed as soon as the movie was over.
Now it’s time to get back to normal, as normal as can be seeing as how we are still trying to figure out a nice “normal” for our family now that Baby has joined us. It is definitely not easy but enjoyable having Baby in our family. He is a sweet little guy and makes us smile. We love our little family and are happy to have each of our children. We hope everyone had a wonderful New Year and that this year brings many great things to many great people!
